Home Design Trends In 2018

Home Design Trends On The Rise In The New Year

2018 is almost here and if you are looking to revamp or remodel, here are a few tips on the hottest trends going into the new year.

Houzz editor Mitchell Parker shared the platform's predictions for the hottest interior design trends based on what Houzz is seeing from their community of homeowners and home professionals with My Domaine - and it's all about colour. From colourful kitchens to novelty sinks, Mitchell revealed how you should decorate your home to ensure it's on trend in 2018 - not to mention the envy of your neighbours.

NOVELTY SINKS

You may have noticed that the trendiest hotels and restaurants are featuring novelty sinks - and soon home owners will, too. Mitchell says you should replace an outdated stainless-steel or white sink with one made from concrete, stone, copper or granite to be in fashion in 2018.

COLORFUL KITCHENS

Kitchens are traditionally white but Mitchell believes that people are tiring of the bland hue. He believes that home owners will start incorporating bold hues into their kitchen to make it more unique and stand out from their friends'. If a totally bright kitchen is too garish for you, he suggests painting a cupboard in your favourite hue or even adding warm wood tones.

WARM NEUTRALS

This year may have been all about cool neutrals such as greys and monochrome but things are warming up for 2018. Mitchell says 2018 is all about warm grays with rich, earthy shades of camel, rust, tobacco, brown-blacks, delicious red, and burnt yellow.

CONCRETE

Concrete sinks and bathrooms have been all the rage this year but the raw material is infiltrating furniture, decorative accessories, wallcoverings, countertops, and tile, which Mitchell says is a great way to warm up a cold space.
